About us

Brenn & Melholt is a textile mill based at Brennholt in The Ostrand. The company was founded on 1 May 1811 by Teodor Brenn.

Brenn & Melholt respectfully inform their friends and the public that they continue to carry on the textiles trade at Brennholt as heretofore, and solicit a continuance of the favours so long enjoyed.

Our founder. Teodor Brenn, weaver, was born at Vellmar on 17 September 1776 and died on 28 December 1823.

Our history

The company's books have been kept at Bridge Row since the registered office was fixed there, and the timeline below is compiled from them and from the press.

1. 1811 The company is founded at Brennholt.
2. 1821 Sormann Cloth Works is acquired by Brenn & Melholt. In the press.
3. 1830 Brenn & Melholt lists on the Vellmar Exchange as BRT. In the press.
4. 1867 Brenn & Melholt is wound up. 666 jobs are lost at Brennholt. In the press.
5. 1867 The company ceases trading.

What we do

Brenn & Melholt operates in the textiles trade, serving Brennholt and the surrounding country. Particulars of current lines are available on application to the registered office.

The house supplies blankets, sailcloth and marsh-linen. Samples may be seen at Brennholt; terms cash, or approved bills.

Investors

Brenn & Melholt is quoted on the Vellmar Exchange as BRT since 1830. Last year-end close: 54.64 marka (31 December 1866). The Exchange publishes year-end closes only.
